LeRoy - Age 71 - Chimayo - Martinez

LEROY C. MARTINEZ, 71, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 1, 2013 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fidel and Fidelita Martinez; in-laws, Arsenio and Mary Martinez; sister, Lugarda Sanchez; brother, Fidel Martinez, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Jose L. Vigil, Juan Baca and Arturo Sanchez. LeRoy retired from the State of New Mexico with 32 years of service. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Virginia Martinez; children, LeRoy Martinez, Jr. and wife Amber, Lori Rodriguez and husband Carlos and Anna Marie Fernandez and husband Nick; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Adelina Vigil and Geraldine Baca of Chimayo and Marcella Anaya and husband Bobby of Santa Fe; brothers, Redolfo Martinez and wife Tommie of Chimayo, Gilbert Martinez and wife Delia of Cuarteles, Wilfred Martinez and wife Louise of Chimayo; sisters-in-law, Angie Martinez of Fairview, Lina Towles of Cuarteles, Maggie Vigil of Rio Chiquito; brothers-in-law, Joseph, Steven and Ramon Martinez and many loving nieces, nephews too numerous to mention. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Sylvia Vigil, Wilfred Sr., Dominic, Matthew, Timmy and Wilfred Jr. Martinez. The family of LeRoy C. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
