LEROY DIXON, 66, a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony J. and Alice Dixon; son, Brian Dixon; brother, Isador Dixon; and sister-in-law, Patsy Dixon, Father-in-law Celestino Espinoza, and sister-in-law Rosalie Maestas. Leroy loved to cook and enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. He also loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with his granddaughters whom he loved so very much. Leroy worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 19 years. He belonged to Laborers International Union of North America local 16, Sangre de Cristo search and rescue team, Velarde and Alcalde fire departments and was a proud member of the San Juan adoration chapel. He was a very loving, kind hearted man and always did what he could to help others in need. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace. Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anna Dixon; daughter, Liane Padilla and husband Steven; grandchildren, Brooke Dixon, Reina, Marissa and Sofia Padilla, Kiana Dixon and Angel Martinez; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; mother-in-law, Josie Espinoza; brother-in-law Ronald and spouse Connie Espinoza, sister-in-law, Charlene Ulibarri and husband Manuel and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the La Villita Catholic Cemetery. The family of Leroy Dixon has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
