Leonora G. - Age 93 - Guachupangue Rodriguez

Leonora G. Rodriguez” - Age 93 - Leonora was born on January 20, 1918 in Guachupangue of the Espanola Valley. She was born to Adolfo Garcia and Maria Ella Vigil who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her sister Leonora and brother Apolonio, both dying early in life. In addition, other siblings and their spouses preceded her in death; her sister Marina and her husband Filadelfio Rodriguez, Cordelia and Her husband Leopoldo Romero, Apolonia and her husband Samuel Trujillo, her brother Leo and his wife Isabel Chavez, Feliciano and his wife Adelina Archuleta, her brother Luis and his wife Julia, her brother Elias and wife Asencion “Sennie” Alarid. Leonora was also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years James H. Rodriguez. Leonora had five children, Jimmy, Angie (deceased) Eddie married to the former Connie Salazar, Dolores and Emily. Leonora had 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; sister, Teresita Martinez and husband Augustine of San Pedro. Leonora was a substitute teacher and teacher assistant for 15 years with the Espanola Public Schools. Leonora was very involved with the church Santa Cruz de la Canada where she was married in 1937. She was a Eucharistic Minister at church and visited the Espanola Hospital for 15 years, and was a teacher in Christine Doctrine for 20 years under the direction of Sister Norina and Sister Angie. Leonora was a member of the “Las Carmelitas” and a life-long member of the Sagrada Familia. Leonora prayed the Holy Rosary every day for members of the family and for world peace. Leonora with her husband James attended the Rosary Rally in Albuquerque for many years and traveled to the Shrine of St. Therese “the Little Flower” and Lourdes. Her life was highlighted with her devotion to the Blessed Mother of God. Her legacy was love, patience, a supportive and devoted wife, a great cook, a good mom and grandma and she had a very strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz de La Canada. The mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Monica Roybal, Marissa de Aragon, Angelina Trujillo, Melonie Rodriguez, Lanelle Rodriguez, and Danielle Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers are Jacque Rodriguez, James Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Carl Trujillo, Chris Trujillo, Gabriel Sanchez, Mark Sanchez, and Patrick Rodriguez. The family of Leonora Rodriguez has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
