Leland - Age 93 - Los Alamos - Neher

LELAND K. NEHER, 93, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was born in Porterville, California in December 2, 1920 to John and Lena Neher. Leland married Margaret Ruth Farris in 1943, his partner and wife of 71 years. They started a family and in 1953 moved to Los Alamos where Leland worked at LANL until his retirement in 1982. Leland and Margaret enjoyed retirement together through music, camping, gardening and keeping up with extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena Neher; siblings, Elreno, Viola, Victor and Bernice. Leland is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret and their sons, John, Doug, Brian, Mike, Paul and Patrick and their daughter, Kathleen. A private remembrance was held at his home in Los Alamos. The family of Leland K. Neher has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
