Lee Maestas

Lee Floyd Maestas , 83, A resident of Grants, NM went to be with our Lord on August 12, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Lee was born on November 28, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan D. and Corina “Trujillo” Maestas; daughter, Patricia Armijo; brothers, Emerson Maestas, Paul G. Maestas and Juan Maestas, sister, Mae Roybal; father and mother-in-law, Frumencio and Eliza Rodarte; sisters-in-law, Maria Maestas, Ann and Barbara Rodarte; brothers-in-law, Elmer and Enos Rodarte and many nieces and nephews.

Lee was born in Gilman Colorado.  Lee was raised in New Mexico where he was a lifelong resident.  He was a resident, for the last 61 years of Grants, NM where he worked in the Uranium Mines for 27 years.  He worked for the City of Grants and worked for New Mexico State University, Grants Branch. Lee served as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council.

Lee will be deeply missed by all of his family who loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Belinda Maestas; daughter, Brenda and husband, Paul Sanchez; sons, Lee and wife, Betty, Charles and wife, Dephine, Emerson and wife, Louise; son-in-law, Dennis Armijo; sister-in-law, Emma Maestas; grandchildren, Sarah Maestas Barnes, Adrian, Timothy, Travis, Kyle, Kaitlin, and Anthony Maestas, Justin and Tyler Armijo, Leslie, Eric, and Jared Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Amelia Barnes, Santiago, Delilah, and Jolene Maestas; niece, Consuelo and Anjelica Sanchez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin Rodarte (Margaret), Henry Rodarte, Oliver Rodarte (Elsie), Anita Gurule (Maximo), Mary Stark (Cecil), Juan Rodarte (Frances), Antonio Rodarte, Michael Rodarte and Christina Bustamante (Gilbert).

A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco with a burial to follow at the Rodarte Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Timothy Maestas, Justin Armijo, Travis Maestas, Kyle Maestas, Anthony Maestas, Tyler Armijo, Eric Sanchez and Jared Sanchez.  Honorary Pallbearers are Sarah Maestas Barnes, Leslie Sanchez and Kaitlin Maestas.  The family of Lee Floyd Maestas have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
