LEE TRUJILLO, 88, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Lee was born to Jose and Senaida Trujillo in Del Norte, Colorado and upon the death of Lee’s natural mother, Lee was raised by his loving mother, Antonita. Lee and his family moved to Española in 1935, where he attended Española Valley schools until his enlistment at age 17 in the Army Air Corps in 1943. Lee served in the Army Air Corps until 1947, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas and the Philippines. At the conclusion of his service, Lee returned to Española and married his late wife, Eluteria Vigil and began his employment for the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratories as a truck driver and subsequently as a carpenter. In 1983 he retired. After his wife, Eluteria suffered a stroke in 1985, Lee was her caregiver and constant companion until her passing in 1993. In 2004, Lee suffered an accident which left him quadriplegic. Despite his physical limitations, Lee kept a positive and hopeful attitude. His humor was infectious and he always had a kind word for everyone. Mr. Trujillo is survived by his sons, Toby (Judy) and Andrew (Louella) of Española; brothers, Joe, Robert, Gilbert and Sammy; sisters, Stella and Juanita; grandchildren, Anthony, Brittany and Bryan Trujillo, Ricardo Urioste, Alfonso, Gilbert and Santiago Armijo; sisters-in-law, Theresa Morawski, Virginia Allee and Cleotilde Birrer; brother-in-law, Augustine Lujan; great-grandchildren, Kianna and Lauren Trujillo and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Anthony Trujillo, Bryan Trujillo, Pat Trujillo, Ricardo Urioste, Alfonso Armijo, Gilbert Armijo, Santiago Armijo and Chris Roybal. Honorary pallbearers named, Florence Patton, Dan Roybal, Roberta Diaz, Lawrence Borrego, Grace Chavez, Nancy Garcia, Carl Trujillo, Tranquilino Vigil, Emilio Martinez, Ted Roybal and Sotero Naranjo. The family wished to extend its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Lee’s caregivers throughout the years. They are his unsung heroes. The family of Lee Trujillo has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
