Laurie Ann - age 46 - La Mesilla Schmitz-La Luz Cata

Laurie Ann Schmitz-La Luz Cata, 46, a resident of La Mesilla, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born on April 22, 1967 in Madison, WI; the daughter of Ray and Jenny Schmitz. Laurie was a graduate of Madison West High School and Metropolitan College in Denver, CO. She resided In La Mesilla, NM but always remained a Badger fan. She was a licensed CPA and worked as the Controller for the Pueblo of San Ildefonso. She is survived by her parents; Ray and Jenny Schmitz of Madison, WI; sister, Pam Patton (Bob) of Birmingham, AL; brother, Jeff Schmitz (Shannon) of Austin, TX; two nephews, Sean Kennedy and Eric Schmitz; niece, Ashley Kennedy, plus several aunts and uncles; close friend, Linda Sanchez (Randy) of San Ildefonso Pueblo, and numerous friends and family of Northern New Mexico. A memorial service will begin on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A private memorial service is also being held in Laurie’s hometown on Monday, December 23, 2013 also. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory to assist the family with funeral expenses. The family of Laurie Ann Schmitz-La Luz Cata has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
