Laura Ann Snyder, (93), passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Espanola, New Mexico.
Laura was born on in Chillicothe, Ohio on February 23, 1930, the daughter of Robert A. Hutton and Elizabeth C. (Strathman) Hutton. She spent her early childhood years in Ohio and completed her education in Oakland County, Michigan. She graduated from high school in Farmington, Michigan, and later from Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism.
She married Loyce Daniel Snyder of Flint, Michigan on March 18, 1951, in Farmington, Michigan and resided in Rochester, Michigan where they raised five children. Laura was a homemaker, worked in the mortgage loan industry, and was a small business owner of a clothing shop and a catering business. Laura wrote short stories and fictional books, two of which are published and a third was in process at the time of her passing. In retirement, Laura enjoyed living with her son Daniel in Alabama, her son David in Northern and Western Michigan, her son Terry in Southeastern Michigan, and with her daughter in New Mexico.
Laura will be remembered most fondly for her vivid imagination, wonderful stories, delightful make-believe play, and whimsical way of communicating especially with young children.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. Hutton and Elizabeth C. (Strathman) Hutton; her husband, Loyce D. Snyder; her brother, Robert Hutton; and her son, David S. Snyder.
Laura is survived by her son, Daniel L, (Martha) Snyder of Madison, Alabama; daughter, Christina L. (beloved son-in-law Steven Salazar) Snyder of Espanola, New Mexico; Terry A. (Danielle) Snyder of Macomb, Michigan; Anthony L. Snyder of Troy, Michigan; and daughter-in-law, Ileana Habsburg-Snyder (wife of son, David S. Snyder, deceased) of Holland, Michigan. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Samantha L (Snyder) Wright; Andrea E. Snyder; Alexandra M. (Snyder) Tillard; Nicholas D. Snyder; Constantza I. (Snyder) Kuyers; Jason A. Snyder; Diana R. Snyder; Nicholas L. Sharp; Robert E. Hartbarger; Ray A. Hartbarger, Hanna E. Snyder, Joshua L. Snyder; and 13 great grandchildren.
