Lamberto Herrera, 94, a devoted Father and Grandpa, passed away with his family at his side on December 10, 2024.
Lamberto was survived by his wife Phyllis Herrera; children; Patricia Starkey (Ken), Lucille Padilla, Herman Padilla, Daniel Padilla, Ricky Herrera (Cinderella), Rodney Herrera (Tammy); grandchildren, Camille, Jesus, Ana Alicia (Susan), Rayven (Gene), Manuel (Jessica), Matteo, Christian, Sofia, Nico, Luis (Mia), Gabriel, Marisa (Alejandro), and great-grandchildren; Zebe, Justin, Santana, Avery, Abel, Diamond, Miguel, Daniel and Dominic.
He was a retired sawmill worker from Duke City Lumber where he enjoyed working for 28 years. His passion in life was his horses. He was a well-known horse trainer throughout the Valley. He participated in many Fiesta parades and would spend hours on his horses riding throughout Northern New Mexico.
He enjoyed his coffee, sweets and listening to Mariachi music. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching horse racing, (his official saying, “Never bet on a Gray horse”, football games and telling great stories of his life in Mexico and letting us know “Apaga la Luz”.
Viewing will take place on December 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the DeVargas Funeral Home with Rosary to follow at 6:00 PM.
