Lafayette (Lafo) Rodriguez, of Dixon, NM passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the age of 80.
Lafayette was born to parents Malaquias and Josefa Rodriguez on March 21, 1935 in Chamisal, NM. He grew up among five brothers and three sisters. He attended Menaul High School, graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the Marine Corps serving three years. Upon release from active duty in 1956 he married his high school sweetheart Lydia Martinez. In the early 60's, they moved to Empire, NV where he worked for United States Gypsum Company in the loading department. In 1966 Lafayette went to work for Boeing in Seattle, WA as a Tool Fabrication Trainee in the Industrial Training Section of the Manufacturing Department. In was in 1967 when Lafayette Rodriguez first took sick. They moved back to Dixon, NM in December 1967 where he loved to garden, watch his favorite T.V. shows such as wrestling, Let's Make a Deal and The Prize is Right. The couple had three children.
Lafayette is survived by son, Larry Rodriguez (Isabel); daughter, LaVerne Rodriguez; sisters, Olivama Atencio and Rose Reed; brothers, Eloy, Malaquias Jr., Juan, and Joe; two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Rodriguez; son, Louis Rodriguez; parents, Malaquias and Josefa; sister, Lillian Lucero; and brother, Obed Rodriguez.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanual Presbyterian Church in Penasco, followed with a social gathering. Burial with Military Honors will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Embudo Presbyterian cemetery in Dixon, NM. The family is grateful for your condolences.
