KENNETH “KENNY” R. ROMERO, 52, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe B. Romero; maternal grandparents, Frank and Debari Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Candido “Candi” Romero; paternal grandparents, Emelecio and Anita Romero; uncles, Porfirio and Alberto Rodriguez; grandmother, Sarita Trujillo and aunt, Teofila Lopez. Kenny was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Marine Corp. having served 7 years, primarily, Okinawa, Philippines and Vietnam. Kenny enjoyed the outdoors, riding and working on his Harley and participating in bike runs. He was a member of the Pro Force Swat Team for LANL. He then worked for Quest fiber optics for a number of years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, nephew and friend to many. Mr. Romero is survived by his wife, Bernice Romero; son, Devon Romero; granddaughter, Denajah Rae Romero; mother, Andreira Romero all of Española; sisters, Diane Bustos and husband Andy of Sombrillo, Louise Lovato and husband Bobby of Española; brother, Delaino Romero and wife Angela of Española; God-father, C.B. Romero of Española; God-mother, Ramona Romero of Sombrillo; aunts, Alice Wheeler and husband Anthony of Española, Ida Trujillo and husband Ernest of Santa Cruz; mother-in-law, Arsenio and Bernie Romero; brother-in-law, Victor Romero and companion Sonia; sisters-in-law, Cindy Vigil and husband Alvaro, Eileen Rael all of Cordova; uncles, Tony Trujillo and wife Lillian of Cordova, Eliseo Trujillo and wife Yolanda of Chimayo, Joey Trujillo and wife Toni, Johnny Trujillo and wife Estella all of Las Vegas, Nevada; aunt, Cippia Dominguez and husband Nestor of Chimayo; God-children, Brandon Rael, MaKayla Pacheco, Chelsea Lovato; close nephews, Robert Perry of Las Vegas, Nevada and Johnny Junior Trujillo of Rio Rancho; close niece, Katrina Martinez of Cordova and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. also at Victory Faith Church in Española. Burial to follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Delaino Romero, Brandon Rael, Alvaro Vigil, Victor Romero, J.W. Sims, and Tony, Eliseo and Jamie Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers named are all his nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Maestas, Greg Gomez, Derrek Overson, Elmer Silva; Steve Miera, Patrick Garr, Mike Marquez and Eppie Gallegos.
