KELLY EUGENE ARCHULETA, 64, a resident of Medanales passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 10, 2016, in his home. Kelly was preceded in death by his father Severito Archuleta, beloved mother Renee Archuleta and his God-Parents Juvencio Manzanares and Cleo Wueschinski. Kelly was a well-known and liked figure of the community and drove many different routes (Bus#29) for the Española School District, gaining many friends and extended family through the years. Kelly was known as a jokester and could make anyone laugh. Kelly was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces in the outdoors. Kelly enjoyed talking, visiting and laughing with all of his friends and family. Kelly Archuleta was also an active member of the Society of Saint Anthony in Medanales and looked forward to celebrating its feast day and participating in the festivities each year. Kelly is survived by his life-long partner Bernie Montoya of Santa Fe and her children, that he held a special place in his heart: Frances Roybal from Santa Fe, Mary and Husband Isaac Romero from Chimayo, Casey Montoya (deceased); Brothers: David and wife Sheila Archuleta of Chamita, Kino and wife Lena Archuleta of Medanales, Gary and wife Greg Archuleta of Santa Fe, Jerry and wife Lorraine Archuleta of La Puebla, Randy and wife Yolanda Archuleta of Brookpark, OH, Bob and wife Mary Archuleta of Medanales, Tommy and partner Jean Archuleta of Medanales and Ronnie Archuleta of Alcalde; Sisters: Francis and husband Leroy Maestas of Abiquiu and Brenda and husband Julian Martinez of Medanales; a niece he considered as his daughter and caretaker Candie Quintana; all of his nieces and nephews, extended family, life-long friend Sennie Quintana, special friends: Emilio Gonzales and Leroy Salazar; all of his friends and his beloved pet “Munchie. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Santo Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, with a burial to follow at the Medanales Cemetery.  Serving the family as pallbearers are Cody Martinez, Marcos Archuleta, Raymond Archuleta, Chis Archuleta, Jerry “J.J.” Archuleta Jr., Leroy “Polo” Maestas Jr., Gary Archuleta Jr., Isaac Romero Jr., Jeremiah Sanchez and Julian Martinez. Honorable Pallbearers: Candie Quintana, Julianna Martinez, Monique Olivas, Kaydynce Olivas, Angela Suazo, Christophor “Chuck”  Archuleta, Francisco Garcia, Kevin Martinez, Robert Mascarenas and Donnie Salazar. The family would like to thank PA Annie Smith and all the skilled caretakers at the Abiquiu Clinic for taking care of Kelly through the years.
