Kathy Frankmore-Aikin was born in La Junta, CO on October 23, 1961 to Jane and the late Sam Frankmore. She graduated from La Junta High School in 1980. After living and working in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado, she moved to Los Alamos in 2005 to have her dreams come true and have an even more wonderful life, with husband and more family. Kathy worked at the Los Alamos National Bank until her illness. Forever making friends to who ever she met. Kathy passed away on March 7, 2012 from complications from her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, with her devoted husband, Douglas Aikin at her bedside. Also at her bedside were her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Irene and Robert Aikin, Sr. Kathy is also survived by her mother, Jane Shaw of La Junta, CO and Nevada, MO; her step-father, Kennon Shaw; her sister, Susan Frankmore. (Johnny) of La Junta. CO; her two brothers: David Frankmore ( Shelby Miller.) of Pueblo West., CO and Steven (Shawna)Frankmore of La Junta, CO; step-children: Cody Aikin, Holly Aikin and Cayla Aikin of White Rock/Los Alamos; brother-in-laws: Robert Aikin, Jr. (Beverly) of White Rock, David Aikin (Karen) Aikin of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Aikin of Broomfield, CO; nieces: Megan Powell.of La Junta, CO, Samantha Frankmore of Gunnison, CO, Coleena Aikin of Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Aikin of Las Vegas, NV, Samantha Rothney of Las Vegas, NV, Amanda Aikin of White Rock; nephews: Matthew Frankmore of La Junta, CO, Nathan Frankmore of La Junta, CO, Alexander Aikin of White Rock; great nephew, Derek Powell of Denver, CO, special aunt Betty Thom numerous other relatives, many close friends both in Los Alamos, CO and the Ovarian Cancer Together Group. Kathy’s family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. D. Snyder of Santa Fe, Dr. D. Mesibov, Dr. C. Mueller of Albuquerque,. Los Alamos Visiting Nurses, St. Vincent’s Hospital, University of NM Hospital and New Mexico Cancer Institute for their kindness and the professional care given to Kathy. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos at 12:00 noon followed by a reception Burial will follow at the Gauje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos. Kathy will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her beautiful smile and her love of life with her being a terrific wife, daughter, stepmother, daughter in law, Aunt and always a friend forever to all that knew her. She enjoyed socializing, eating out with friends, shopping, traveling and taking care of family and friends first before her own needs. She touched so many lives and in so many ways that our hearts will be forever touched. She is now in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
