It is with great sadness that the family of Karla Montoya, 63, a resident of La Mesilla/San Pedro, announces her passing on Thursday, July 23, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. Karla accepted her suffering in a humble manner and without complaint. Karla was a fighter and full of hope; the hope that she would have as good a life as possible until her final breath-regardless of whatever challenges her battle with cancer presented. Karla’s last months were difficult but, she made it a point to enjoy every moment possible. Although her disease eventually stole her away from her loved ones, she lived the way that she wanted and never compromised and for that, she beat the disease. It was the simple things around her in life that she never took for granted, commenting daily how fortunate and thankful she was for her abundant blessings. Even though Karla has passed on to eternal life, she is still a hero. She fought cancer for nearly four years. The extraordinary courage she drew from her deep faith served as an example to others what true strength and humility really are. Foundational to Karla was her unwavering faith; believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after passing from this life to the Kingdom of God to eternal salvation. Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Roberta and Armando Montoya. Karla will be lovingly and forever remembered by her siblings, Isaac Montoya, Tom Montoya and wife Brenda, Phil Montoya and wife Debra, Luella Aragon and husband Diego, Mary K. Maestas and husband Ernest and Mando Montoya and wife Sylvia. Karla will be sadly missed by her nephews and nieces, Vanessa Montoya, Kelsi Montoya, Brian Montoya, Daniel Montoya, Kayla Montoya, Annalycia Montoya and Mando Ray Montoya.
