Karen Garcia

GARCIA KAREN RENEE – Resident of Espanola, NM, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 43 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest and treasuring their time with family.  Karen’s pride was her family, which was evident by the amount of love she showed to each and every person that came into her life.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Karen. She loved watching Little House on the Prairie Let's make a deal & the price is right game shows.  Her love of animals was extraordinary.  Her compassion, smile, and distinctive laugh left a lasting impression on the world and will be forever missed.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Albert Cordova, Jr.; grandparents Albert Cordova, Sr., Cordelia “Cordy” Cordova,  Audilia "Lily" Martinez, Calletano Martinez; brother-in-law, Willie Joe Garcia; Aunts, Lillian Cordova, Lorraine Chavez, Margie Murrieta and Tina Cordova and uncle, Ricky Cordova.

Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Fermin; adoring daughters, Briana and Destiny; Caring in-laws Fermin Garcia Sr. and Joann Garcia of Espanola NM; devoted sister-in-law, Carrie Garcia of Espanola NM; loving sister, Lisa of Taos, NM; gentle brother, Joseph (Victoria) of Monument, CO; loving mother, Grace Cordova of Truchas, NM; nieces and nephews, God daughter Amber, Donald Jr., Christian, and Natalia.

Public visitation will begin on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse Church in Chimayo, devotional service to begin at 7:00 p.m

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Light House Church in Chimayo.  Funeral to follow at Smith Memorial Cemetery in Truchas, NM. The church is still observing Covid Care practices Masks are required.
