JULIAN J. “SHORTY” MONTOYA, 30, a resident of Chimayo, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 29, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Vigil; maternal grandparents, Pablo and Rosario Vigil; paternal grandparents, Julian and Josie Montoya and close cousin, Linda DeAguero. Julian lived his life with lots of love and happiness. He loved his family dearly and was heartbroken when his mother passed. He enjoyed his low-riders and attending car shows. He was also a Cowboy fan and had a big heart for helping people and animals. He will always be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Montoya is survived by his father, Raymond Montoya; children, Julian, Jr., Isaiah and Alaysha Montoya; sister, Gina Montoya and companion Michael Martinez; brother, Peter Garduño; uncle, Cipriano Montoya; aunt, MaryAnn DeAguero; close cousin, Leon DeAguero and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at the Jardin de las Flores Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Peter Garduño, Jr., Leon Salazar, Ruben Rendon, Adrian Vigil, Gabriel Martinez and Michael Martinez. The family of Julian J. “Shorty” Montoya has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
