Julian Martinez

Julian Filiberto Martinez of Truchas, NM, age 32 passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023. Julian was born on December 24, 1990, to Glenn and Deborah.

Julian was a loving son, grandson, brother, father, uncle, fiancé, and friend. He was known for his beautiful green eyes and smile. His smile would light up any room he walked into. He was always willing to offer a shoulder to lean on or lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, generously sharing his time with you.

He was a proud resident of El Rito and a former resident of Truchas, NM. He was a 2009 graduate of Espanola Valley High School. Julian was a local 412 Union Member and worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory for 7 years. He was an amazing artist who loved woodburning and creating roses out of anything he could find. Julian loved the outdoors, hunting, playing with his Rock Crawling trucks, spending time with his family, his beloved chihuahua Rosie, and was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers.

He is preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents Juan Pedro and Refugio Martinez, Delfino and Clorinda Fernandez. Maternal Grandparents Ildefonzo and Maria Rose Sandoval, Donna Bell Gomez, mother of his son Samantha Martinez and Mother-In-Law Lori Ann Montoya.

He is survived by his Father, Glenn Martinez (Phyllis), Mother Deborah Smythe (Danny), the love of his life Michelle Montoya, his children Faybien Martinez, Alyssa and Nathaniel Alire. His siblings: Celeste Sandoval (Brandon), Janelle Martinez (Terry), father -in -law Tony Martinez Jr. Sister-in-law Jessica (Rafael), Chris (Nichole). Grandparents: Jose Filiberto and Marie Martinez, Richard E. Sandoval (Linda), Deborah Gomez. Nephews: Damian, Jayden, Jordan, Jordan Lopez, Jessie and Ares. Nieces: Lylliana, Kaylee, Destiny, Faith, and Nara, all who he loved dearly. His uncle Gary Martinez, Aunt Michelle (Larry), Auntie JoDee (Patrick), three close cousins Ashley (Alejandro), Stephen (Kelly), Nicole and numerous family and friends who loved him.

Serving as pallbearers: Faybien Martinez, Terry Martinez, Brandon Salazar, Stephen Martinez, Rafael Maldonado, Chris Martinez, Nathaniel Alire, and Jordan Lopez. Honorary pallbearers: Alyssa Alire, Damian Padilla, Lylliana, Ares and Jordan Salazar, Nicole Martinez, Ashley Martinez, Jayden and Kaylee Martinez, Lilee Zarate, Estevan Martinez, Jessica Montoya, and Steven Trujillo.

A public viewing will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel and a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A rosary will also be recited at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., and Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas, NM.
