Julian Abilio Joseph Sr., Age: 80

Resident of Taos formerly of Ojo Caliente NM

Date of Death: 1/11/25

Julian was preceded in death by: Daniel Joseph Sr. (father), Consuelo (Rivera) Joseph (mother) – Victor Chavez (father-in-law) and Ida (Mondragon) Chavez (mother-in- law). Pete Joseph(brother) Epimenio Joseph(brother), Infant brother (Baby Joseph) and Tina Joseph (goddaughter/niece).

Julian Joseph was born in Ojo Caliente, NM, November 28, 1944. Son of Daniel and Consuelo Joseph. In his childhood Julian spent a lot of time back and forth from Colorado where he worked at the farms and fields. He loved to tell stories of his time there. Julian finally graduated from the Ojo Caliente Highschool in 1966. After high school Julian signed up as a fire fighter, where he did tours up and down the pacific northwest. He spent time in California as well before returning to Ojo Caliente to start a wood working furniture business. Later that business, with the help of others, developed into a Nationally recognized sign company known as Ojo Caliente Craftsman. Ojo Caliente Craftsman touched many people in every sign made for this country. Julian also owned racehorses and raced them often all over the country. My father was proud of his entrepreneurial accomplishments. In 1976 Julian met a beautiful young lady named Prescilla Chavez and in 1977 he married her. Julian and Prescilla shared 48 years together. In 1978 Julian and Prescilla welcomed their first child, Julian Jr. and in 1980 they welcomed their second child Mindee. Julian was the most encouraging dad anyone could ask for. His family, his wife, his kids, and his grandchildren were the center of his world. He was always there, quick to teach and love and slow in anger. Julian had many accomplishments and friends in his life and lived a happy full life. He loved to tell stories and discuss the bible with everyone especially his best friend Lee. Julian will always be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was patient, kind, generous to his family and anyone he met. He always saw good in every person. “Be Nice and forgive.” He would always say, “People always mess up, but they can always do better.” No matter what; he would always greet you with a smile and a story. We will miss you. Love you always and forever Daddy.
