Julia J. Age - 85 - Fairview Martinez

Julia J. Martinez, 85, a resident of Fairview passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011 from natural causes. Julia was a very generous lady where she was awarded many awards for community and state services. She was a devout Catholic where she served in many capacities in her church. Julia graduated from the Spanish American Normal School, (HS) El Rito Normal, earned her B.A. from Adams State, Alamosa, CO; M.A. from UNM. She was an educator for 42 years with the Rio Arriba County School and presently the Española Municipal Schools District, where she served as a teacher, principal and librarian. She and J.R. did a lot of traveling to Europe, Mexico and most of the states. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Juliette; husband, Jose Ramon; her parents, Ramos and Senaida Jaramillo. Julia is survived by her son, Kenneth (Marian) of San Pedro; her precious grandson, Kenny of Albuquerque; brothers: Ramos, Jr. (Marlene) of Castaic, California; Gilbert Jaramillo (Grace) of Albuquerque; aunt, Ramoncita Ruybalid of Santa Fe; uncles: Eraldo and Jose Maestas both of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Margarita Garcia (Jesus) of Midvale, Utah; 2 cousins that were like sisters: Juanita Gonzales and Katie Kirkwood; and many other loving friends, nieces and nephews. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will celebrated on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with interment to take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. The family of Julia J.
