JULIA HERNANDEZ VIUDA DE MEDRANO, 93, a resident of Santa Cruz, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011. She was preceded in death by her father, Secundino Hernandez; mother, Donaciana Alvarado; husband, Melecio Medrano; daughters, Ester Ancelma and Julia Medrano; sons, Vicente Medrano; grandsons, Silvestre, Efren and Secundino Medrano; brothers, Guadalupe, Eulalio and Francisco Hernandez; sisters, Maria de la Paz, Maria de Jesus and Juana Hernandez; half-sister, Brijida and Francisca Alvarado and half-brother, Hipolito Diaz. Mrs. Medrano is survived by her children, Ramona Gallegos and husband Zenon of Los Angeles, California, Genoveva de Alvarado and husband Pedro of Sioux City, Iowa, Donaciana Medrano de Martinez and husband Gabriel of Cuidad Juarez Chihuahua, Reyna Medrano de Ruelas and husband Dolores of Rosales, Chihuahua, Javier Medrano and wife Tomasa of Cuidad Juarez Chihuahua, Emilio Medrano and wife Raquel of Caldwell, Texas and Sylvia M. Garcia and husband Ruben of Santa Cruz; 31 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada in Santa Cruz with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada in Santa Cruz with burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Esequiel Martinez, Pedro Alvarado Jr., Jesus Manuel Medrano, Estevan Lona, Tony M. Lona, Ruben Garcia Jr., Felipe Martinez, Melecio Medrano Jr., Gabriel Martinez Jr., Victor Alvarado, Jorge Alvarado, Reymundo Lopez, James Martinez.
