Julia Morfin

We are saddened to announce the passing of Julia Consuelo Morfin of Agua Sarca (Coyote, NM) on June 2 at the age of 86. Julia passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Julia is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years Sergio Timoteo Morfin, and Grandchildren: Tricia Nancy Thompson, Gary Morfin Jr., Aaliyah Mariah Morfin, Her mother Beatrice Salazar, Stepfather Liberato Salazar and Father Arturo Pina, brother Eddie Salazar Sr.  She is survived by her children Randy Morfin (Isabel), Loretta Morfin (Sammy), Gary Morfin (Collette), Sandra Morfin, Karen Morfin, and Darlene Maestas (Andrew). 

Grandchildren: Patrick Chavez (Lisa), William Herrera, Roxanne Chavez(John), Gary Morfin (Michelle), Melissa Acevedo (Frankie), Selina Morfin, (Junior) Andy Martinez (Angel), Aurora Martinez (Dwayne), Sergio Morfin (Jeannie), Daniella Jacquez (Gerardo), Candace Sandoval(Eugene), Britney Morfin, Gabriella Espinoza (Gerald), Kristal Morfin (Gerardo), Jessika Morfin (Lucas), Victoria Quintanilla (Michael), Andrew Maestas(Kathleen), 42 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter, Brothers Phillip Pina (Adeline), Walter Pina, Raymond Pina (Lydia), Sisters Sylvia Pina Bosen (Pat),  and AnaMaria Pina along with many dearnieces and nephews.

Throughout Julia Morfin’s life she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. At a young age she met her forever husband Sergio Morfin and from that moment on they were inseparable. Together they built a beautiful home hand in hand, brick by brick which they then filled with love and six beautiful children. Julia lived a full and busy life that consisted of raising her children, ranching, gardening, running a convenience store in Gallina, NM, and later helped raise some of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many and will be in our hearts forever. 

A public visitation will take place on Thursday June 8, 2023 at 5:00 pm in the Sangre De Cristo Chapel of De Vargas Funeral Home and a Holy Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday June 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Santo Tomas Catholic Church in Coyote with a burial to follow at the family private cemetery in Agua Sarca (Coyote, NM).
