Juan "Tano" - Age 64 - Santo Niño Martinez

JUAN “TANO” MARTINEZ, 64, a resident of Santo Niño, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 15, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Howard Martinez and Paternal grandparents Juanita and Salustriano Martinez; and maternal grandparents Andrea and Candido Montano. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with family and friends. He could spark up a conversation about auto mechanics and car races and took pride in diagnosing car problems for family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing, singing Amazing Grace, Christmas carols and Christian music. His family meant the world to him and he loved spending time with them. Mr. Martinez is survived by his daughter, Lily Martinez Rael and husband Everett of Santo Niño; step-daughter, Daisy Trujillo; grandchildren, Dominique, Michael and Gabriella all of Ranchitos; mother of his children, Veronica Martinez of Hernandez; his parents, Modesto and Marina Martinez of Riverside; brothers and sisters, Mary Sandoval and husband Jake of Riverside, David Martinez and wife Lorraine of La Mesilla, Modesto Martinez Jr. and wife JoAnn of Dixon, Michael Martinez and wife Karen of La Puebla, Inez Valencia and husband Edward of Santo Niño, Jerry Martinez and wife Darby of La Mesilla, Leonard Martinez of Riverside, Melvin Martinez of Fairview and Angela Trujillo and husband Jerry of Chimayo; a special niece, Rachel Valencia and nephew, Nicolas Gallegos who dedicated their time during his illness, and several aunts, uncles, close cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
