Juan J. Roybal, 75, of Penasco passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Roybal Perraglio; mother, Demetria Roybal; father, Maximiliano Roybal and brother, Filemon Roybal. Juan is survived by his wife, Rosie V. Roybal; daughters: Maxine Roybal and Rosemarie Vasquez; son, John Roybal, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; sisters: Eliza Valdez, Emma Atencio, Mary Lola Borreal, Mabel Zamora, Flora Simental, Toni Atencio and Dila Romero, Dorothy R. Montoya; Brothers, Fares Roybal and Joe D. Roybal. He was born and raised in Rio Lucio (Penasco) New Mexico. He is one of FIVE brothers born to the Roybal family. Juan lived in California for many years but his heart was in Rio Lucio and moved back home after his mother passed. Juan J. Roybal was a very community minded person. He was instrumental in causing positive changes in his community with his influence with government officials and support from the people. He had a special talent in staying focused with a project and a persistent attitude that people appreciated. He had a "never give up" and a "keep moving forward" attitude and was an extremely good and kindhearted person. Juan was a wonderful husband, father and brother. His community and friends throughout New Mexico and elsewhere loved him and he will be missed. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in Española, NM with a rosary to follow at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco at l0:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Penasco Community Cemetery near Rio Lucio. A reception follows the burial at the Penasco Community Center. Serving the family as pallbearers will be: John Roybal, Jr., Joe D. Roybal, Fares Roybal, Roman Atencio, Miguel Atencio and Elias Roybal, Manuel Vasquez, Ruben Martinez. The family of Juan J.
