JUANITA SALAZAR, 91, a resident of Chimayo, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Juanita was a celadora del corro de Sagrada Familia de la Cuchilla and was also a member of the Sociedad de Nuestra Señora de Carmel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose C. and Donaciana Salazar; brothers, Carmen Salazar and wife Julia and Esquipula Salazar and wife Ciria; sisters, Rebecca Archuleta and husband Juan Pedro and Sofia Salazar; daughter-in-law, Tommie Martinez and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Ms. Salazar is survived by her son, Percy Martinez of Chimayo; daughter, Veronica Maestas of Chimayo; son-in-law, Joseph H. Maestas; grandchildren, Dwayne Martinez and wife Angel, Jeff Martinez and companion Patricia Romero of Chimayo, Percy Martinez, Jr. and companion Dannette Martinez of Ojo Caliente, Benito Maestas and companion Yvonne Quintana of Chimayo, Myra Maestas and fiancé, Timothy Martinez of Santa Cruz, Waylon Maestas and wife Camille of Arroyo Seco; great-grandchildren, Megan Martinez, Benito Maestas, Jr., Brandon and Alysia Martinez, Christopher and Michael Maestas and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 7:45 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Dwayne Martinez, Jeff Martinez, Percy Martinez, Benito and Waylon Maestas, Timothy Martinez. Honorary pallbearers named are all her great-grandchildren, Megan Martinez, Benito Maestas, Jr., Brandon and Alysia Martinez, Christopher and Michael Maestas. The family of Juanita Salazar has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
