Juan D. Vigil – a resident of Chimayo, born on May 16, 1927 was called to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012. Juan was surrounded by his family and friends at his bedside after a lengthy illness. He lived his life to the fullest. He married Mary E. Vigil and had 8 wonderful children, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 9 ½ years and worked for the Ker-McGee Uranium Mines in Grants, NM for about 11 years. Juan was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Vigil; parents: Jose Domingo Vigil and Rita Vigil; sisters: Adelia Trujillo, Rosela Martinez and a brother, Levi Vigil. Juan is survived by his 5 sons and 3 daughters: Orlando “Lano” Vigil and wife Sarah of Kingman, AZ, Steve Vigil and Cora of Albuquerque, Louie Vigil and wife Elsie of Albuquerque, Philllip “Arnold” and wife Christine of Chimayo, David and wife Mela of Albuquerque, Shirley Quintana of Tulsa, OK, Bernadine Dominguez and companion Lalo of Chimayo, Yvette DeVargas and husband Hilario “Larry” of Española; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers: Arturo Vigil and wife Gregoria, Carlos Vigil and wife Rosina; and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo. The family would like to give a special thank you to, Hilario (Larry) and Yvette DeVargas, Larry Jr., and Alyssa (Baby) and to all that helped during our time of loss. The family of Juan D.
