Juan Martinez

Juan A. Martinez, 62, a resident of Abiquiu passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Simon Martinez, Jr.; brothers, Father Vidal and Rafael Martinez; sister, Marcella Gonzales and close cousin, Vicente Archuleta, Jr. Mr. Martinez is survived by his mother, Rafaelita Martinez of Abiquiu; brothers, Simon Martinez, III of Arizona, Ben Martinez and wife Dolores of Texas, Mike Martinez and wife Sally of Farmington; sisters, Juanita Gallegos and husband Eloy, Melinda Mondragon, Elizaida Martinez, Vicentita Rivera and husband Robert and Agapita Martinez all of Abiquiu; Tia Lucy Trujillo of Abiquiu and Tia Cordy Martinez of Española; close cousins, Gerald Archuleta of Abiquiu, Sara Archuleta of Santa Fe, Tita Maestas of Albuquerque, and Leroy Maestas and wife Frances of Abiquiu; a very close friend who was like a brother, Billy Larranaga and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu with Father James Marshall officiating. Burial to follow at Abiquiu Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Orlando Lopez, Paul Rivera, Sean Martinez, Benjie Martinez, Colorado Cordova, Richard Mondragon, and Wyatt Collier. Honorary pallbearers named are, David Mondragon, Conrad Cordova, Castillo Cordova, John Martinez, Misha Gallegos, Aaron Mondragon and Kyle Montoya. The family of Juan A. Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
