Juan - Age 78 - Chimayo Fernandez

JUAN C. FERNANDEZ, 78, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 7, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose de la Luz Fernandez and Lucinda Fernandez and Benito and Maclovia Ortiz who raised him; love of his life, Carmen Fernandez; sons, James and Elias Ralph Fernandez; sister, Marilyn Stemple; in-laws, Ramon and Frances Padilla; daughter-in-law, Prescilla Fernandez and son-in-law, Carl Cordova. He was a master weaver and mine worker; also loved to fish, camp and assist in building Kingdom Halls. Mr. Fernandez is survived by his son, David Fernandez; daughters, Lucinda Cordova and Marcella Martinez and husband Johnny; grandchildren, Joseph Fernandez, Julio Gurule, Juan P. Martinez, Marlina Martinez, Marcos Fernandez and great-granddaughter, Harmony Carmenlita Gurule; close family friend, Kristina Ortiz and numerous other relatives and friends. Cremation is being planned. A Memorail service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Kingom Hall in Arroyo Seco. The family of Juan C. Fernandez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
