Josina M. Jiron, 79, resident of La Mesilla, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Josina was born in Espanola, NM on August 19, 1936 to Manuel and Ramoncita Montoya. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 53 years, H.A. “Al” Jiron. Josina is survived by her children, Inez Leibman and husband Chris of Santa Fe, Albert Jiron and wife Sharon of La Mesilla and Daniel Jiron of Albuquerque; her beloved grandchildren, Maria Orona Morsey and husband Jerrick of Albuquerque, Laureana Jiron, Andres Jiron and Kaylee Jiron; sister, Elvira Martinez and husband Jose of Cuyamungue; brother, Johnny Montoya and wife Polly of La Mesilla and numerous other relatives for whom she cared deeply. Josina graduated from Espanola H.S. in 1954 after which she worked for New Mexico Magazine before becoming a homemaker and working part-time with her husband at Fairview Pharmacy. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, volleyball, dancing, and was most content and at peace when she was surrounded by friends and family. Josina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada in Santa Cruz, with a burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Andres Jiron, James Maestas, Rick Mascarenas, Matthew Montoya, Stephen Montoya, and Henry Trujillo, Jr., honorary pallbearers are Robert Archuleta, Mario, Nicolas and Noah Garcia, Jose E.
