Joshua B. Montoya, age 34, a lifelong resident of La Puebla, New Mexico was taken unexpectedly from us to be with the Lord on June 18, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his loving grandmother whom he considered a second mom Concha Montoya, great-grandfather Fidel Montoya, grandfather Ben Montoya, Uncles David “Spunky” Montoya, Jeffrey “Cito” Brown, and Benji, great uncle Eppie Martinez.
He is survived by his Parents Benita and Jesse Chavez, fiancée Cindy Martinez and their three children Jaden, Danika and Raeliegh “RaeRae”. His children Aaliyah, Joshua Jr, Austin, Jynelle ”Nelly”, Jasmyn, Aspyn, and mother of his children Clarissa Ortega. , brother Walter Chavez, special cousin whom he considered a brother Paul Montoya (Lexianna), very special great uncle Carmelito “Di” and great aunt (Chavela “Mom”). Uncles and Aunts; Yolanda (Joseph), Billy, Marcella (Leonard), Benito (Karen) and numerous cousins, friends and family.
Josh always lived his life to the fullest and was a very loving person.
Josh was a very proud father of his 9 children. He loved spending time with his children and was dedicated to his family. The love he had for his children was unconditional, and Josh always made sure that his family was well taken care of. Josh always went that extra mile for the people he loved, always making his presence known to everyone with his great sense of humor and his contagious smile, always putting a smile on everyone’s face. Josh was very generous and would always give a helping hand to anyone he would encounter. Josh enjoyed working on cars and he had a passion for Lowriders and attending car shows any time he had the opportunity. Josh enjoyed his Harley and loved taking his bike out for rides and also loved being outdoors spending time with his loved ones going fishing and camping. He always loved being surrounded by all his family and friends. Josh will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Josh will forever be in our hearts.
A public visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 5:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory and a rosary to follow at 6:00 pm, a Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Meeting at DeVargas at 12:30 pm for procession to Chimayo starting at 1:00 pm, burial will follow at the Nuestra Senora de Dolores cemetery in Chimayo.
