Jose S. Montoya

Jose S. Montoya, 89, a resident of Pojoaque, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 9, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Montoya; parents, Ramon and Catalina Montoya; brothers, Esquipula and Henry, sister, Veva. Joe was born November 11, 1925. He is survived by his children, Edwin Montoya and wife Laura of Dallas TX., MaryRose Gerling and husband Chris of Dallas, TX., Leroy Montoya and wife Doreen of Cuyamungue; grandchildren, Dana Bingham and husband Dustin, Kimberly Montoya, Crystal Montoya, Keri Mirabal and husband David, Kristina Irwin and husband Will, Jan-Tosh Gerling, Josh Huey; Lauran Wallace and husband Shane; great-grandsons, Ethan Bingham and Cruz Mirabal; brother, Buddy Montoya and wife Avelina, and numerous beloved relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Derrick Montoya, David Mirabal, Dustin Bingham, Raul Rivera, Donald Montoya, and Henry Montoya, honorary pallbearers named are Jan-Tosh Gerling, Ethan Bingham, and Cruz Mirabal. We would like to extend our gratitude to the nursing staff from giving who diligently took care of our father. The family of Jose S. Montoya has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
