Jose Rufino. Martinez, 87, a lifetime resident of Truchas passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. He was born on November 18, 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gelasia and Vicente Martinez; sons, Marvin, Manuel, Gerald, and Frankie Martinez, daughter, Annette Martinez; brothers, Amarante, Miguel, Benino Martinez and Ovaldo Martinez, sisters, Teresita and Olivama Martinez. Jose is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mabel Martinez; sons, Genaro, Gilbert, and Jeremiah Martinez, daughter, Loretta all of Truchas; grandchildren raised by them Charlotte Munuz and Rufino Martinez, grandchildren, Jewel, Douglas, Priscilla, and Eric Rael, Shaun and Mandy Martinez of Chimayo, Gabriel, Jeremiah, Melony, Marissa, Angelica and Jasmine Muñoz, 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roman and wife Dolores of Norwalk, California, and Mel Martinez and wife Jeri, sisters, Eusevia Quesada and Benerita Martinez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert Rael and wife Minnie of Truchas, Luis Rael and wife Dianna of Albuquerque, Cora Maez of Albuquerque, Priscilla Sioss and husband Bob, Linda Ladman and husband Mike of Ohio, Kelly Espinoza of Chimayo, Alice Archuleta of Truchas, and a special Goddaughter, Donna Espinoza, as well as many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas, with a burial to follow at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery in Truchas. Serving the family as pallbearers are Rufino Martinez, Douglas Rael, Jeremiah Martinez, Gabriel Montano, Eric Rael, David Munoz and Luis Rael. The family of Jose R. Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. \r\n
