Jose Reyes - age 62 - Española Castillo

d. July 19, 2014

Jose Reyes Castillo, known to many as ‘Che Reyes’ or ‘Louie Castillo’ age 62, passed to a better life Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his home. Jose was born January 6, 1952 in Gomez Farias, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose “Pa Che” Castillo Romero and Genoveva “Veva” Marquez Chavez, both who preceded him in death. Jose was also preceded in death by his first wife, Corrine O. Castillo and her parents, Susano and Lupe Trujillo, his sister, Maria Elena Zamora; his God-daughter/niece, Josefina Morales and his great-nephew, Erik Alejandro Castillo, as well as other beloved relatives.\r\nJose was a well-known and respected roofer for over 30 years, working in Santa Fe and Española. He enjoyed camping, fishing and especially watching his beloved children and grandchildren play sports. When his kids were growing up, he spent hours helping them practice and sitting on bleachers watching them play baseball, football, volleyball, softball and basketball. Jose loved and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved watching the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, and took his family to see games.\r\nHe always had a good joke to tell because he loved to see people laughing and enjoying life, and was especially proud of the day he became a citizen of the United States of America. He hated to see people who didn’t want to work because he was such a hard worker and he appreciated the opportunity to raise his family in America. He also loved to read and at one point had read all the Spanish language books at the Española Library and started going to the Santa Fe Public Library before he learned you can get books from another library at your home library.\r\nJose is survived by his beloved children, Jose Antonio (Adrienne), Brittany, Adrian, Victoria and Erica Castillo and stepsons he raised, Roque Luviano and Marcos and Alvin Padilla; a niece he loved like a daughter, Lucy Escarcega Campos; his brother, Leopoldo ‘Polo’ (Cuca) and his sister, Leonor Morales (Cirilo). Jose’s grandchildren who will miss him terribly are; Corrine, Jose D., Jason, Wendy, Roquito and Yamilé.\r\nHe is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Jose loved ALL his family very, very much!\r\nPublic visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jose Antonio and Adrian Castillo, Roque Luviano, Marcos Padilla, Juan Campos, Daniel Licon, Carlos Arras and Jamie Terrazas. Honorary pallbearers are all his wonderful and beloved nephews and all his beautiful and beloved nieces.\r\nThe family of Jose Castillo has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n \r\n
