Joseph S. - age 60 - Alcalde Martinez

JOSEPH S. MARTINEZ, SR. 60, a resident of Alcalde, went home to be with his maker on Thursday, June 12, 2014. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Filiberto D. and Benarda Martinez; sisters, Margie and Patsy; brothers, Filiberto Jr, Richard, John and Raymond Martinez and nephew, Ricky Martinez. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Marie Martinez; children, Joseph S. Martinez, Jr and wife Natasha, Josephine Vigil and husband Michael and Angela Madigan; grandchildren, Mia Lousie Madigan, Jeremiah Espinoza and Isaiah Espinoza; brothers, David and wife Carol Martinez, Leonard and wife Marylou Martinez; sisters-in-law, Cora Martinez, Glenda Skinner Gloria Woodson and husband Bruce, JoAnn Rael and MaryAnn Finney and brothers-in-law, Herman Young, Lee Quintana wife Jackie; nephews, Eric, Ben, Tony, Mark, Brian, and JohnPaul Martinez, Trenton Chavez, Gabriel Quintana, Gerorge Quintana, Jr, Antonio Rael; nieces, Crystal, Michelle and Mackensie Tosch, Yvone Romero, Debbie Rael, Rachel Quintana, Aileen Castle, Mika Chavez; friends, Art and Dolores Salazar, Eddie and MaryAnn Lopez, Rodger and Frances Martinez and other relatives and friends. Our father peacefully departed this world after a lengthy struggle with numerous illnesses. We thank him for the struggle he endured to try to spend every moment possible with his family and friends. Joseph loved to play sports, the outdoors, mechanics, and being a Jack of all Trades but master at none, he would say. He was a very generous and hard working person who was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and help a neighbor or a friend. We will always remember him for his comically sense of humor, always needing to have the last laugh, and starting every sentence with: listen bro, can I tell you something? His pride, hard work, and determination/stubbornness taught his children and grandchildren that nothing was impossible to accomplish as long as we put our minds to it. For that we will always be grateful and will honor your spirit by being the best that we can be and never giving up in life. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española. Burial will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at La Villita Cemetery in La Villita. Honorary pallbearers will be: Eric Martinez and Eddie Lopez. The family of Joseph S. Martinez, Sr. has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
