In Loving Memory of Josephine T. Martinez

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Josephine T. Martinez, a resident of San Pedro, who unexpectedly, but peacefully left this world on November 16, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on July 27, 1943 in Espanola, New Mexico, she lived a life filled with love, wisdom, and kindness, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Josephine was a woman of remarkable strength and grace. She dedicated her life to her family, and her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother brought her immeasurable joy. Her warmth, infectious laughter, and gentle spirit will be missed beyond words.

Throughout her life, Josephine instilled values of love, perseverance, forgiveness, and compassion in all who were fortunate enough to be in her presence. She had a special gift for making every moment feel important, and her ability to listen with a kind heart made her a confidante and a source of comfort to many.

Josephine will forever be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering faith, and the countless lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide us through the traditions she created and the memories she left behind.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luis and Euphemia Trujillo, her husband of 60 years Orlando Martinez, her son Jimmy Martinez, her brother Jose “Gina” Trujillo, and her sister Rosa Benavidez. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

Josephine is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Archuleta and her husband Orlando Archuleta, Yvette Martinez and her husband Rudy Abeyta, grandsons, Orlando Archuleta Jr., Eric Archuleta, and Joey Martinez, granddaughter Kristina Salazar and her husband Elias Salazar, great-grand daughter Zoey Martinez, great- grandsons Estevan Salazar and Lucas Salazar, sisters, Mary Montoya and her husband Henry Montoya, Louisa Montoya and her husband Vicente Montoya, and many other family and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Pilar Mendez for all the help and care you provided Josephine in the months prior to her passing. We are forever grateful to you and any others that may have helped in her final days.

A public visitation will take place on Monday December 2, 2024, at 5:00pm and a Rosary at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral Mass will be on Tuesday December 3, 2024 at 2:30 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church and burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons, Orlando Archuleta Jr, Eric Archuleta, Joey Martinez, and Jacob Serrano and Christopher Serrano who thought of Josephine as a grandmother as well.

Rest in peace, Josephina. You were loved by us all and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
