Joseph Anthony Martinez – Age 24 a resident of Chimayo passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents: Francisco and Gregoria Marquez and Antonio and Louisa Sanchez; paternal grandfather, Ascencion Y. Martinez; aunt, Corina Martinez; and cousin, Steven Martinez. Joseph loved hunting, fishing and camping with his father, brother, family and friends. With his outdoor passions his dream was to become a licensed taxidermist and pursue a career that he enjoyed doing as a part time job. Joseph had a big heart who did anything for anybody. He made many friends anywhere he went and they loved him dearly. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Martinez and companion Adam Cata; father, Eric Martinez, Sr. and companion Diane Montoya; sister, Deidra Martinez; brother, Eric Martinez, Jr.; cousins considered like sisters: Athena and Autumn Marquez; raised as brothers: Gavin and Cesar Vargas, Jr.; paternal grandmother, Seferina Martinez; maternal grandmother, Mabel Marquez; maternal grandfather, Leopoldo Marquez and companion Dorothy Serna; Godparents: Noel Martinez and Grace Martinez; uncles: Leo Marquez, Gilbert Martinez and wife Dorothy, Asencion Martinez, Jr. and wife Roberta, Rosendo Martinez and companion Cindy and Toby Martinez and companion Audrey; aunts: Helen Trujillo and husband Julian, Dalila Archuleta and husband Pete, Evelyn Martinez and companion Joseph, Margie Martinez and Connie Joseph; and numerous loving cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Church in Chimayo with a devotional service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lighthouse Church in Chimayo. Burial will follow at the Assembly of God Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers: Eric Martinez, Jr., Joshua Martinez, Walter Martinez, Eli Martinez, Kevin and Curt Caudill.
