JOSEPH ALEJANDRINO NARANJO, born on September 19, 1947, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his home in Guachupangue. Joseph was a lifelong resident of Espanola, NM. He met and married his wife of 34 years Carmen L. Lucero and together they raised their daughter Janelle Naranjo. He was a devoted husband and father blessed with a heart of gold whose love for all was unparalleled. He brought joy and happiness to everyone with whom he shared his life with. He will be truly missed by his family and friends but his memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew him. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio Naranjo and Mary R. Martinez; mother and father-in-law, Edwardo and Adelina Lucero; brother, Gerald Naranjo; brothers-in-law, Alex, Eddie and Leonard Lucero. Mr. Naranjo is survived by his wife, Carmen Naranjo; daughter, Janelle Naranjo and son in-law Miguel Roybal; son, Anthony Naranjo; brothers and sisters, Emilio Naranjo, Jr. and wife Evie of Rockville, Maryland, Benny Naranjo and wife Amy of Albuquerque, Lorraine Lopez and husband Abedon of Albuquerque, Barney Naranjo and wife Stella of Alamosa, Colorado, Susie Salazar and husband Victor of Velarde, David Naranjo and wife Dolly of Velarde, Jeanette Salazar and husband Kenny of La Mesilla, Larry Naranjo and wife Sharon of Rio Rancho, Beverly Parmer of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Anna Naranjo of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Marguerite Naranjo of Española, Cecilia Naranjo of Albuquerque, Raul R. Naranjo and wife Carmella of Albuquerque and Rubel T. Naranjo of Santa Fe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny Lucero and wife Theresa of Ojo Caliente, Martha Ortega and husband Anastacio of Rio Ojo Caliente, Elsie Maldonado and husband Thomas of Bernalillo, Piedad Lucero of Guachupangue, Celestino Lucero and wife Jeanette of Ojo Caliente, Rosellen Sinaloa and husband Humberto of Alcalde, Michael Lucero of Albuquerque, Isidoro Lucero of Ojo Caliente, Lisa Pena of Ojo Caliente and Rosie Lucero; God-daughters, Jackie Salazar of La Mesilla and Roxanne Lucero of Ojo Caliente; granddaughter, Stephanie Marquez of Los Lunas, special niece, Sara Martinez and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española/ Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Eli Gallegos, Harold Romero, Eloy Vigil, David Naranjo Jr., Robbie Vigil, Joe Archuleta. Honorary pallbearers named are the staff at Jemez Eletric Co-op. The Naranjo family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
