Joseph Garcia (Mado), “I have fought the good fight, have finished the race and I have remained faithful”. Joseph Garcia better known as Mado, cherished husband, father, grandpa and friend passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness, he was surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren, and close friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Feliciano and Adelina Garcia; his infant son, Joseph; brother, Bobby H. Garcia, and very close uncle Robert “Bobby” Esquibel; father-in-law, George M. Martinez; brother-in-law, Earl Martinez Joseph lived his entire life in San Pedro. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling, but most of all spending time with his family and very dear close friends, Teofilo and Amelia Martinez and Joe (Black) Martinez. Joseph was employed for many years as a plumber in Los Alamos before going to work for the Dept. of Corrections in Santa Fe. He is survived by his wife of 46 years whom he cherished and loved dearly, Angela Garcia of San Pedro; his two sons, Roland and Fiance Liz Lujan, Brandon Garcia, his three daughters, Cynthia and husband David Martinez, Maitai and fiancé Brandon Lopez Sr., and WinterBrooke and fiancé Gilbert “Joey” Marrufo Jr.; his precious grandchildren whom he raised and loved so very much Santiago, Josselynn and Ashlynn Garcia, his other grandchildren whom he loved so much, Marcos and Chanell Garcia, Zachary, Angelique and Derek Martinez, Kaitlin Garcia, Gilbert III and Alicia Marrufo, Alexiyah, Amiyah, and Brandon Lopez Jr.; sisters, Viola and husband Jimmy Quintana, Vicky and husband Lalo Maestas, and Gloria Garcia; sister-in-law, Precilla Garcia; his very dear and close friends who were more like a brother and sister to him Amelia and Teofilo Martinez and their children The family would like to express their most sincere and grateful appreciation to Teofilo and Amelia Martinez for all they did for our father. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are his children, Roland and Brandon Garcia, Cynthia and David Martinez, WinterBrooke and Gilbert Marrufo Jr., Maitai Garcia and Brandon Lopez, honorary pallbearers are Joe (Black) Martinez, Albert Gallegos Gilbert Archuleta, Joe Trujillo, Jimmy E. Quintana, Charles Romero, Tommy Maestas, along with all his grandchildren. Joseph had too many friends and relatives to mention but the family hopes you know how important you all were to him. He died as he lived, fought hard until the end.
