Joseph - age 82 - Española Merhege

Joseph F. Merhege, 82, a lifelong resident of Española Valley passed away of a brief illness on Friday, September 13, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents; Fidel and Latify Merhege, 4 brothers, Johnny, James, Fidel Jr., and Michael Merhege, sisters, Jessie Fidel and Jennie Michael. Mr. Merhege was a Lector at Santa Cruz de La Cañada Catholic Church and a long time member. He was ditch commissioner and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Merhege is survived by 2 sisters, Helen Finch, of San Pedro, Mary Million and husband Jim of Santa Cruz, and many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Merhege’s name can be given to Soup Kitchen or Amber Care Hospice. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Santa Cruz de la Cañada Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Santa Cruz de la Cañada Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz. Serving as pallbearers will be Salvador, Ramon, Daniel, and Salvador Corona Jr, Arthur Michael Jr., and Fidel Merhege Jr. The family of Joseph Merhege has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.\r\n
