JOSE D. GUTIERREZ, 99, a resident of Chama, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Isidro and Josephine Gutierrez; son, Horacio Jose Gutierrez; granddaughter that was raised as a daughter, Rhonda Renee Gutierrez; granddaughter, Vickie Valdez; brothers, Adrian, Max and Benito Gutierrez and Reynal Velasquez; sisters: Amalia Russon and Irene Bollinger; in-laws: Edumino Herrera and Cladina Gutierrez; and other relatives. Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his wife of 72 years, Antonia M. Gutierrez of Chama; children, Rose Valdez (Gilbert) of Chama, Sadie Thompson (Tom) of Utah, Mary Lucero (Chris) of Chama, Theresa Brown (David) of Utah, Robert Gutierrez (Patricia) of Albuquerque, Angie Gutierrez Serrano (Benny) of Española, Fermin Gutierrez (Jane) of Utah, Josie Hargrove (Dave) of California and Evelyn Decosta (Dwayne) of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Luis Herrera (Donelia); 26 grandchildren, Antoinette Gutierrez of Española, Lee Gutierrez (Crystal) of Utah; 42 great-grandchildren, Sean Ulibarri of Cebolla and Jonathan, Tristan and Aiden of Española; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Herrera of Utah; brothers: Frank Gutierrez (Mela) of Texas, Perfecto Gutierrez (Alicia) of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gutierrez; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chama with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. also at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama. Burial to follow at the Chama Community Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Johnny Valdez, Tony Maestas, Lee Gutierrez, Sean Ulibarri, Alex Lucero, Joseph Gutierrez, Jonathan Coriz and Horacio Lucero. Honorary pallbearers named are, Tristan and Aiden Coriz, Ashton Ulibarri, Larry Valdez, Felix Valdez, Phillipe Lucero, Maria Gutierrez, Sandra Lucero, Abigail Gonzales, Jesus Martinez, Michael Quintana, Jose Sanchez, Christina Lucero and Mildred Valdez.
