Jose Celso Age - 78 - San Pedro Martinez

Jose Celso Martinez 78, a resident of San Pedro, passed away on Wednesday Feb. 29, 2012 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio E. Martinez and mother, Margarita Martinez. Brother, Telesfor (Tele) Martinez. Mr. Martinez was a longtime entrepreneur/businessman, having been a pioneer in the office supplies business still in operation. He started the first typewriter sales and service in the Espanola Valley in 1959. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Corrine Abeyta Martinez of San Pedro; children: Marlo R. Martinez and wife Valerie F., Marcella Velasquez and husband Tomas, Mark Martinez, Margaret Trujillo and husband Peter, Marvin Martinez and wife Lissy Pereira; brother, Lino Martinez and wife Molly; sister, Rosina Archuleta and husband Juan; grandchildren: Leanna Martinez and Juan, Rene Padilla and Franco, Jenna Velasquez and Jason Maes, Stefani Martinez and Pablo Vasquez, R. Estevan Martinez and Amanda Lopez, Joshua Marlo Martinez, Kerina Bustos and Leon, Obed Martinez, Hannah Martinez and Leonard Padilla; great-grandchildren: Eleana, Mariah, Teaya, Mattias, Dominic, Daniel, Isabella, Sean and Marques; and numerous other relatives and friends. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers will be: Denise Roybal-Montoya, Theresa Salazar Martinez, Big Dawgs Coffee Club, Judge Alex Naranjo, Manuel Salazar, Ray Gomez, Rafael de la Torre, Cristobal Martinez, Alfonso Duran, Max Sanchez, Clyde Vigil, Dennis Salazar, Larry Martinez, Larry Lujan and Michael Martinez. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to take place at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
