Jose Adan Garcia Jr. “Laddie”, age 70 a resident of Ojo Caliente, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 peacefully with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Garcia; son, Melvin and wife Dorothy; father and mother, Adan and Tita Garcia; sister, Martha Mae Martinez; and father-in-law Carlos Ortega Sr. Adan was a wood carver, wood worker, weaver, and T.V. repair man. He attended area arts and craft shows and was a retiree of the State of New Mexico Department of Transportation. He enjoyed spending time at the family ranch in Tierra Amarilla. Adan is survived by his daughter, Addie Garcia and companion Luis Ruybal of Hernandez; sons, Randy Garcia and wife Orie of Ojo Caliente, Darryl Garcia of Hernandez and Joseph Garcia of Espanola; daughter, Augusta Dyson and husband Jim of Los Alamos; brothers, LeRoy Garcia and wife Irene, Armando Garcia and wife Mary, Sam Garcia and wife Regina; sisters, Viola Chavez and husband Robert, JoAnn Garcia, Pamela Manzanares and husband David and Donna Lambert and husband David; mother-in-law, Augustina Ortega; grandchildren, Mario Ruybal, Matthew Garcia, Michael Garcia, Nicole Garcia, Darryl Garcia Jr., Nicholas Garcia, Vanissa Garcia, Desiree Garcia, Isaiah Garcia, Geoffrey Marquez, Jamie Dyson and Jack Dyson; great-grand daughter, Patience Vargas and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 6:00p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 7:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente with burial to follow at the Ojo Caliente Catholic Cemetery. Assisting the family as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Patience Vargas, Nick Lovato and Liliana Martinez. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Ambercare Hospice and Home Care, and Open Hands and Cancer organizations of choice.
