JOSE VICTORIANO (VICTOR) LOPEZ, a Las Trampas native, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 23, 2019.  Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Antonio and Maclovia Lopez; sisters, Bertha Vigil, Manuelita Sanchez, Louisa Lopez, brothers, Delfido Lopez, Ernestino Lopez and Liberato Lopez. After leaving New Mexico, Victor traveled to several states seeking employment until he settled in Tooele, Utah where he worked for the Tooele Army Depot as a military equipment mechanic until his retirement in 1995. Soon after his retirement, Victor moved back to New Mexico where he led a simple, humble life enjoying fishing, gardening, watching western movies, lending a helping hand to all who asked him and enjoying time with family. He was a hard-working man and had dedicated much of his time to the restoration of the San Jose de Gracia Church in Las Trampas. Victor is survived by his 3 brothers, Emeterio , Louis and Patricio Lopez; children, Sandra  Vigil (Clarence), Eva Lopez (Yvonne), Jim Lopez (Teresina), Tim Lopez, Victor “Chico” Lopez (Jennifer); 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Victor’s children would like to express their heart felt gratitude and appreciation to the staff from Mountain Home Health, Christus St. Vincent Cancer doctors and chemotherapy staff, as well as extended family members who were instrumental in the care and well being of their father during his illness. Our belief is that “No business is so pressing, nor is any sadness so sorrowful that one should not stop and say Thank you” A rosary will be recited on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Jose de Gracia Church in Las Trampas, with a burial to follow at the Las Trampas Cemetery. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers are Victor’s grandchildren, Danielle Mares, Valerie Flores, Amanda Pacheco, Jim Lopez Jr., Daryl Roybal, Brandon Roybal, Matthew Vigil, Macario Casados, Karl Lopez, Donovan Lopez, Julianna Lopez, Zachery Lopez and Noah Lopez.
