JOSE ISABRO ROMERO “JOE”, 86, a resident of Cordova, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nabor and Octaviana Romero, infant daughter, Becky; sisters, Corina Sandoval and Ernestina Romero, brothers, Ramon, Nabor Jr. and Filemon Romero.  Jose was an avid outdoors man and loved to tend to his vegetable garden. He loved to haul wood, fish, and hunt. He has left behind many precious reminders of his dedication and commitment in all he did for his family. Jose was a miner in Gilman, Colorado and Grants New Mexico from 1952 – 1983. Jose is survived by his wife Rosina; children, Nobert (Linda) Romero, Erma (Danny) Velasquez and Johnny (Raeanne) Baca; grandson who was like a son; 6 grandchildren, Denika and Jaime Romero, Katrina, Daniel and Joshua Velasquez and a special great granddaughter Heaven Baca, 7 other great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Romero, Jr.; and many other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Sombrillo Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Los Alamos for their loving care of Jose where he lived out his final years. The staff’s welcome to each of them as they went in to visit their Dad was always comforting. Thank you for your service. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a burial to follow at the 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers Jaime Romero, Daniel Velasquez, Joshua Velasquez, Matthew Martinez, Johnny Martinez and Isaac Ortiz.
