Jose Ortega

Jose Libeo Ortega, a resident of Santa Fe passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, from a short illness.  Jose was predeceased in death by his loving wife Lourdes Ortega, by his parents, Juan Antonio, and Estefanita Ortega.  Son Reynaldo Rey Ortiz, SIL Bobby Moya. Siblings, Isabro Ventura Ortega "Charro” Esneda Montano, Dolores Ortega, Martina Ortega, Lilian Ortega, Jake Ortega, Jose Benito Ortega, and Juan Ortega. Nephews Gabriel, Danny Montano, and Rico. Grandchildren Robert Moya and Edward Landeros.

Jose had a blended family with his loving wife Lourdes Ortega, he never drew lines between his children and stepchildren, he loved them all.  Jose is survived by his children: * Daughters Rachel Arguello (husband John) of Santa Fe, Merlyne Ortiz of Albuquerque, Yvonne Ortega (husband Eloy Montoya) of La Madera, Lina Ortiz of Chimayo, daughter-in-law Berlinda Ortiz of Chimayo. * Sons: Lee Ortega (partner Kim) of Albuquerque, Wilfred Ortega of Chimayo, Clarence Ortiz (wife Laura) of Chimayo, Tito Ortiz (wife Joann) of Chimayo. * Sisters Carol Leyba of Santa Fe, Edwina Martinez of Truchas, Diane Leyba of Arroyo Seco. * Grandchildren: Gerome Arguello, Marissa Arguello, Natashia Ortega, Dominic Martinez, Joshua Montoya, Dylan Chavez, Unity Trujillo, Desiree Landeros, Daniel Ortega, Mike Ortega, Gabriel Alire, Cyrina Moya, Stephen Moya, Paula Ortiz, Lisa Bustos, Ray Ortiz, Jr., Dale Ortiz, Kathleen Martinez, Jessica Baca. And numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Jose was a jokester, he loved people and liked to make them laugh, he loved to go fishing and loved his chile at every meal.  He loved his kids, grandkids and his siblings and would love to share stories of the happy times with all of them.

Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel there will be a public viewing at 11:30 a.m. and a rosary will take place at 12:00 p.m.

On Thursday, January 12, 2023, at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, a Eulogy will be delivered at 10:30 a.m., and a mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 a.m.

Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Casa Rael: Candy Lady Dolores, Nurses Tiffany, and CNS Linda and a heartfelt Thank You to Ashley Martinez who took such good care of dad.
