JOSE O. SALAZAR, 48, a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. Jose was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Luis Minis Vasquez and Margarita, paternal grandparents, Esqueipula and Ciria Salazar; special uncles, Joe Eddie, Jimmy Vasquez; and father, Armando “Jose” Salazar.  He is survived by his mother, Connie Vasquez and Miguel Campos; step-mother, Lydia Salazar; son Darren Salazar, daughter, Ruby Salazar; mother of his children, Maria Olga Terraza; brothers and sisters, Gilbert and wife Tila of Alcalde, Margie Vasquez and companion Denise Martinez of Hernandez, Edward Dunaway and Jose Mascarenas of Alcalde, Beverly Salazar Gomez and husband Gerald of Espanola, Bernadette Salazar and companion, Tommy Archuleta of Santa Fe, Paul Padilla of Espanola, aunts and uncle Rosie Rodriguez, aunt/Godmother and husband Anival of Albuquerque, a very special uncle that he really admired Dennis Vasquez of Penasco, Becky Frease and husband Jim of Tooele Utah, Josie Romero and the late Pete of MonteVista, Colorado, Minnie Vasquez of Albuquerque, Florence Vasquez of Penasco, Johnny Vasquez and wife Lorraine of Taos, Fidel Vasquez of Penasco and a very special niece whom he considered like a sister Kacie Ranes; nieces and nephews Margarita, Anjelica, Louisa, Gibbi, Nicolas, and Zeb of Alcalde. A very special thanks to DeVargas Funeral Home and Justin-Salazar Torres and staff and all of Jose family and friends for all of the Love and support they gave him through his lengthy illness. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde, with a burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Darren Salazar, Jonathan Griego, Jose Mascarenas, Danny Ranes, Giovanni Gomez and Derek Archuleta, honorary pallbearers are Justin-Salazar Torrez, Sarah Fina Aguino-Flores, D’Angelo Gomez, Roseann and Elaine Rodriguez. The family of Jose O Salazar has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
