Jose Martinez

Jose “Ben” Martinez, 93, a resident of Vallecitos, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Martinez, parents Jose and Teofila Martinez, in-laws Leandro and Bersabe Gallegos, brother Abel Martinez and sisters Celina Jaramillo, Anita Martinez, Cora Chacon and Son in Law Joseph Lovato.  He is survived by his daughters Darlene Lovato (Diego), Frieda, and Isabelle Martinez. Grandchildren Daniel Lovato (Erica), Alfred Lovato, Darryl Lovato (Letitia), Joann Maestas (Joseph), Therese Maestas (Rudy), and Estevan Trujillo (Amanda).  Great grandchildren Derek, Joshua, Alexis, Matthew, Isaiah, Dylan and Alexander Lovato, Mikayla Evans, Xavier Jennings and Felix Garcia.  Siblings Roy, and Teofilo Martinez (Amelia), Isabella Sandoval (Dave) and numerous other family members and friends. Public visitation will be on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at El Oratorio del La Morada in La Madera. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. also at El Oratorio de La Morada in La Madera, with a burial to follow at the Vallecitos Catholic Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be his six grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be his great grandchildren and Aleyana Baca.
