Jose E. Marquez Sr., a resident of Ranchitos, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters. . "Mr. Marquez was a lifelong member of La Cofradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in Ranchitos having joined the Cofradia in 1938." He served with the 51st Combat Engineers, Combat Battalion in the European theater of operations during 1944 – 1945, having been awarded 3 Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Medal and French Silver Medal among others. Jose is survived by his wife Bernie Marquez; daughters, Connie Marquez – Valencia, Rose Manning, Christina Trujillo, Norma Marquez, sons, Jose E. Marquez Jr. (Kate), Gerald Marquez (Susie), Donald Marquez (Sharon); 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, plus loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 1:00m p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
