Jose Lopez

Jose Liberato Lopez, 83, a resident of Trampas, NM passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on May 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Antonio and Maclovia Lopez, sisters Bertha Vigil, Manuelita Sanchez and Louisa Lopez, brothers Delfido Lopez and Ernestino Lopez and great grandson Angel Aldo Alfonso Marquez.

He graduated from Penasco High School in 1952. He joined the Army in 1956. He went on to work 31 years for The US Forest Service. He also volunteered as the Mayordomo of San Jose de Gracia Church in Trampas, NM for many years and was instrumental in the ongoing restoration of the church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Minnie, his children Judi, Melanie, Joseph (Jennifer), Mark (Cris) and Michael, 8 grandchildren: Anthony, Jeremy (Caitlyn), Angel (Brittany) Julia, Jesse, Zoey, Mason, Charley, one great granddaughter Aliyah; brothers, Emeterio, Louis, Patricio and Victor.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A second rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose de Gracia Catholic Church in Las Trampas. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. also at the San Jose de Gracia Catholic Church. Burial will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with the following serving the family as pallbearers, his sons and grandsons, Joseph Lopez, Mark Lopez, Michael Lopez, Anthony Lopez, Jeremy Chavez, Angel Marquez and Mason Mancuso De Lopez.
