JOSE AVARISTO GURULE, 78, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Jose was preceded in death by his 1st. wife, Emma Gurule; son, Herman Gurule, daughter, Geraldine Pacheco; parents, Adelido and Amalia Gurule; brother, Robert Gurule and Elizardo Gurule, sister, Elisa Atencio; and grandsons, John Paul and Zach Pacheco. He is survived by his wife, Maria C. Gurule of Velarde; sister, Hortencia Trujillo of Pueblo, CO; great-grandchildren, Xander Pacheco, Aliana Cisneros, Lucas Pacheco and Zack Pacheco Jr.; stepchildren, Leroy Lucero and wife, Sandra Ponce, Irene Ward and husband, Wilfred Lucero, and Christy Benavides and husband and numerous grandchildren, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
