JOSE FLORITO GONZALES, 83, a resident of Dixon, passed away of a lengthy illness on Sunday, January 10, 2016. He was preceded in death by his son, Arsenio Gonzales; parents, Rumaldo and Magdalena Gonzales; sister, Emma Gurule; brother, Albert Gonzales. Jose served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 – 1955 as a P.F.C. He loved fishing, camping, and hunting. Jose loved attending to his apple orchard, and worked on many construction projects. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he will be dearly missed. Jose is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Gonzales; his little buddy, Dollor Bill; children, Floyd Gonzales (Anna), Louie Gonzales, Vivian Medina (Michael); grandchildren, Calvin, Crystella, Shaun, and Brian Gonzales, Cassandra Dimas (Joe), Brandon, and Shannon Medina, Marcella Sanchez, Kaylanna Gonzales; great grandchildren, Rosalinda Romero, Joseph Jr., and Ellayna Dimas; siblings, Ruth Gurule, Ermelina Gonzales (Nick), Oralia Gonzales, and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Calvin and Shaun Gonzales, Michael and Brandon Medina, Gilbert Trujillo, and Joe Dimas. Honorary pallbearers will be, Cassandra Dimas, Crystella Gonzales, Shannon Medina, and Marcella Sanchez.
